Over half of the clients who work with us 1:1 report digestive issues as their top concern.

For one client, that looked like planning her mornings around the bathroom.

For years she dealt with severe diarrhea and urgency that made it difficult to leave the house without worrying about where the nearest restroom would be. She relied on Imodium regularly. She had reached a point where her symptoms were impacting her confidence and quality of life.

When she first came to us, we immediately started with taking a deeper dive on her gut. Her GI-MAP revealed multiple underlying contributors to inflammation. We found pathogenic strains of E. coli that are commonly associated with diarrhea and intestinal inflammation. Beneficial bacteria, which help support digestion, immune function, and gut barrier integrity, were trending low. We also identified elevated opportunistic bacteria that can contribute to both digestive symptoms and histamine production.

One of the most interesting pieces of her case was a symptom she hadn't even listed as a primary concern.

She was experiencing significant tinnitus that was disrupting her sleep. At first glance, ringing in the ears and digestive symptoms don't seem connected. But when we looked at her stool test, we found elevated bacteria known to produce histamine. Histamine can contribute to irritation within the inner ear and may play a role in symptoms like pressure, discomfort, and ringing.

This is why we talk so much about systems biology.

The body doesn't operate in isolated compartments. What happens in the gut influences the immune system. The immune system influences inflammation. Inflammation can show up in places that seem completely unrelated to digestion. Once we understood the full picture, we were able to address the underlying imbalances and support healing at a deeper level.

The improvements were remarkable.

The urgency and frequency of her bowel movements calmed significantly. She told us that she finally had the confidence to get out of the house without worrying about where the next bathroom would be.

It was the first time in nearly ten years that she felt that level of confidence in her body.

She went from relying on Imodium regularly to using it only once over several months. The most unexpected improvement for her, was the tinnitus faded to the point where it was no longer disrupting her sleep.

This is why we like to think big, because of course it’s great to see that her digestion has improved, but what’s even more special is that she got her confidence and quality of life back.

That's what can happen when you stop chasing symptoms and start identifying the underlying factors driving inflammation and dysfunction in the first place. Many people think of gut testing as a tool for bloating, constipation, or diarrhea. While it can absolutely help us understand those symptoms, it often reveals much more than that.

That is exactly why we created the Gut Panel, so that more people can have clarity about their health and have a clear path forward.

If you've been dealing with symptoms that don't seem connected, the Gut Panel can be a powerful first step toward understanding why.
