Skin healing goes far beyond removing foods like gluten or dairy or trying a new cleanser. Chronic issues like acne, eczema, or rosacea usually have deeper root causes that need to be addressed. One often overlooked piece of the puzzle is minerals.

Our body requires minerals for nearly every process tied to skin health:

✔ Detoxification

✔ Hormone production and signaling

✔ Nervous system regulation

✔ Gut health and digestion

✔ Blood sugar balance

✔ Cellular hydration

✔ Conversion of thyroid hormones

✔ Energy production

✔ Health of skin barrier and healing

When mineral status is depleted, the skin pays the price. You might notice poor wound healing, chronic breakouts, increased inflammation, dull or dry skin, or flares in eczema or psoriasis. It’s not just what you are seeing on the surface of the skin, it’s a signal your body is running on empty.

What throws minerals off?

  • Chronic stress

  • Diets low in nutrients – minerals cannot be maybe in the body they need to be consumed

  • Overexercising or under-eating

  • Environmental toxins

  • Poor digestive capacity – nutrients require robust stomach acid, digestive enzymes, and gut bacteria to be properly absorbed and utilized

  • Lack of proper hydration or over-filtered water stripped of natural minerals

So what can you do?

Start with foundational habits:

  • Prioritize a nutrient dense whole foods diet with an emphasis on mineral-rich foods.

  • Magnesium: dark chocolate, avocado, pumpkin seeds

  • Potassium: potato, sweet potato, aloe vera juice, coconut water, cooked spinach, cream of tartar

  • Sodium: sauerkraut, kimchi, sea salt

  • Calcium: cooked greens, dairy, canned salmon or sardines, kale, broccoli, bok choy, sesame seeds

  • Balance meals with protein, carbs, and fats to keep blood sugar steady and stress responses low.

  • Get good sleep, manage stress, and support nervous system health.

  • Remineralize your water. You can do this by using daily electrolytes, trace mineral drops, or sip mineral mocktails daily (see some of our favorites recipes below).

  • 16 oz water, 10-20 drops of the Concentrace Trace Mineral Drops, juice of 1 lemon or lime, 1/4 tsp salt

  • 8 oz water, 8 oz coconut water, juice of 1/2 lemon, 1/4 tsp of mineral rich salt

  • 4 oz pineapple juice, 4 oz coconut water, 1 tsp cream of tartar, 1/4 tsp of mineral rich salt

Without proper mineral status, the body can’t heal and the skin is one of the first places that reveals that.

Want a deeper look?

If you’ve been trying everything for your skin from changing your skincare, cutting out foods, and adding in supplements but still not seeing the glow you’re after, it might be time to look deeper.

This is where the Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) comes in. We can use the HTMA test to uncover your mineral status. It shows insights to how your body is responding to stress, what minerals are depleted or in excess, detoxification pathways and what imbalances might be contributing to skin symptoms, hormone issues, fatigue, and more. This allows us to move beyond guesswork and build a targeted plan.

Mineral depletion is common in our high stress and nutrient depleted world. But with a few simple daily habits, you can support your body and give your skin the building blocks it needs to truly heal.
