When clients come to us, they often think their hormones are the whole story. And honestly, it makes sense. Symptoms like heavy periods, breast tenderness, mood swings, weight gain, and fatigue naturally point to hormones. But it often goes deeper than that, hormones are rarely the full story.

The Hormone Piece of the Puzzle

One of our recent clients came to us showing classic signs of estrogen dominance: fibrocystic breasts, heavy bleeding, mood swings, and fatigue. She also had dealt with ongoing digestive symptoms of reflux, bloating, and chronic constipation.

We started with a DUTCH hormone test, which revealed sluggish estrogen clearance and imbalances that explained part of her symptoms. By supporting her methylation pathways and hormone detox, we saw some improvements in her cycles and symptoms.

But… she still didn’t feel fully better.

(And our goal is to get you feeling FULLY better.)

The Gut’s Impact

Given her history with digestive symptoms, the next step of diving deeper into her gut made sense. When we looked deeper into her gut the results were eye-opening. Her stool test showed:

  • H. pylori

  • Significant dysbiosis

  • Reduced digestive function

  • Parasite

Her chronic constipation was a red flag that signaled what was going on with her hormones was likely also tied to her gut. Constipation can hinder the final phase of hormone clearance that happens in the gut through elimination. When hormones aren’t cleared properly through regular bowel movements, they can get reabsorbed into circulation. This creates a cycle that worsens estrogen excess symptoms like the ones she was experiencing. These gut imbalances weren’t just causing digestive discomfort, they were directly interfering with her body’s ability to process and clear hormones effectively.

The Takeaway

Our hormones and gut health are deeply connected. If you’ve been trying to support your hormones without seeing full resolution, it might be time to look beneath the surface.

This type of root cause work is exactly what we do in our 1:1 Functional C.A.R.E Method™. If you’re tired of chasing symptoms without answers, digging deeper into your gut and hormone connection might be the next step to finally feeling like yourself again.
