Episode 419: When Physical Solutions Aren't Enough: The Nervous System Root of Chronic Illness
Listen on Apple Podcasts | Listen on Spotify
Mindset work, subconscious healing, and brain rewiring are everywhere right now, and Erin is here for it.
In this replay episode, Erin breaks down why healing is a both/and situation. Your mind, beliefs, nervous system, emotions, and energetic patterns matter big time, but so do labs, inflammation, hormones, gut health, and what’s happening on a physiological level.
Erin shares real client examples, while talking about the fear loops, symptom stories, identity patterns, and emotional roots that can keep chronic symptoms stuck on repeat, and why sometimes the next layer of healing is not another protocol, but a completely new way of relating to your body.
P.S. For less than $2 a day, you can completely rewire your body and health in the Manifest Your Health app.
In this episode:
Why some chronic symptoms become neuroplastic or hardwired into the brain and nervous system
How pattern interrupts, brainwave states, self-compassion, shadow, and somatic release fit into Erin’s approach
The dangers of symptom-tracing Facebook groups, and how they can sneakily lock you into a “sick person” identity
What practitioners need to understand before trying to lead clients through deeper mind-body healing work

Erin Holt:
Hi friends, and happy July! I hope you're enjoying your summer. I'm taking a couple of weeks off from the podcast so I can soak up all the Maine sun at our lake house and get ready to launch our fall cohort of the Funk’tional Nutrition Academy, which is our 14-month practitioner training and mentorship that helps you build a practice with a big impact.
And applications are officially open for the fall, so if you're a practitioner who wants to do what I've been doing for the past 10+ years, apply and we will get back to you really soon. The application is linked up in the show notes. Now today, I pulled a banger of an episode from the vault, and we are low-key obsessed with the original intro from 3 years ago. So we're going to go ahead and leave that in because I was talking about my first ever beta tester group of Manifest Your Health. And as many of you guys know, the results were honestly so astounding from that group that I ran it again 2 more times, and then I spent the next 2 years revamping the whole program, redeveloping it, and turning it into a 5-phase system that you can easily access and follow in an app, which we just launched a few months ago. And we've made it really, really affordable.
For less than $2 a day, you can completely rewire your body of health in the Manifest Your Health app. And if you're a one-on-one client of ours, you get free access. And that is because, as you'll learn today, your nervous system— and your mind play a huge role in how you heal. So let's dive into all of that right now.
Welcome to the Funk’tional Nutrition Podcast, spelled with a K because we do things a little differently around here. I'm your host, Erin Holt, and I've got 15 years of clinical experience as a functional nutritionist and mindset coach, creating a new model that I call Intuitive Functional Medicine™, where we combine root cause medicine with the innate intelligence of your body. This is where science meets self-trust. Your body already knows how to heal, and this show is going to show you how. If you're looking for new ways of thinking about your health, be sure to follow and share with a friend because you never know whose life you might change.
Hello, everybody. Today's episode is, it's not always mindset, but sometimes it is. And the reason that this is fresh on my mind no pun intended, is because just yesterday we closed out our very first beta tester group of Manifest Your Health. And I am— we had a feedback form and I'm receiving feedback from it and I'm really just quite blown away. I was actually crying reading the feedback form.
70% of participants noticed a reduction in symptoms in only 6 weeks.
100% had more positive outlook on their health.
100% had more tools to navigate a flare.
100% Had more of an understanding of the root of their symptoms.
100% had more of an understanding of what is subconsciously keeping them stuck and have tools to work through it.
100% have more compassion for themselves.
100% had a deeper appreciation of their body and themselves, a deeper sense of trust in their own ability to heal.
And 95% had less fear and anxiety about their health. So, wow. Wow.
Somebody said, this class was probably the most impactful thing I have done on my journey for better health. Somebody else said they've done all the programs that I've offered, and they've tried so many different things to feel better. This is by far the best and was truly the missing link for me in my growth and my health. Somebody else said, this experience has been life-changing. It was exactly what I needed. So I feel really good about that. And Manifest Your Health is really addressing the mental body, The emotional body, the energetic body, but we are not bypassing what's happening at the level of the physical body. We are still acknowledging what's happening at the level of the physical body.
We are not turning away from it. We're making space for it, and we're also supporting the physical body. And the reason that this has got me thinking is because mindset and subconscious work and brain rewiring are really getting more and more popular, which is great. It is awesome. I'm so happy. But there is, what I'm seeing is there, like there's this camp that it's like, it's all mindset. It's all the mind. It's all the mind.
And we are, when we're so fixated on, there's like one path to healing, we can actually miss opportunities for healing. And I think when we are coming at things coming at physical healing from like, it's all in your mind, it's all in your mind, there is potential to reinforce harmful narratives if we're not careful. Uh, so many people have gone to their healthcare providers with their symptoms and they've been told it's all in your head. I'm sure if you're listening to this podcast, you might've been told that at some point. It's pretty darn common. And then to go to a practitioner who maybe has some understanding of the subconscious mind and subconscious beliefs and maybe does some like brain rewiring type, type work, and then they tell you, hey, it's all in your mind, that can reinforce a harmful narrative if we're not careful. The truth is, the way I see it, it's a both and situation. So your mind, your mindset, your beliefs all important, but so is your physical body.
And addressing the physical body has to come online for whole and complete healing. And I think the best approach is one that puts it all on the table. So we have mental healing opportunities, we have energetic healing opportunities, we have emotional healing opportunities, we have physical body healing opportunities. I think the magic happens when we combine them all together. So in my world, at The Functional Nutritionist, we treat the physical body And we go beyond for full healing, and there's opportunities to meet yourself wherever you are at.
We also have one-on-one functional medicine work. So if you need a deep dive on your health, we— you can access that through us. And then of course we have Manifest Your Health. But the reason that I feel super confident And the reason that we are offering Manifestor Health as an extension of our services is because we also provide opportunities for the physical body healing. It is not that we are trying to bypass the physical body. So where I get concerned is the folks who are saying it's all the mind, it's all the mind, it's all mindset, it's all beliefs, it's all mind, it's all beliefs. It's like, yeah. And my concern is that if we keep telling people it's all in your mind, it's all in your mind, it's all in your mind, it's just reinforcing the same stuff, which is like, there's nothing really physically wrong with you.
It's all in your head. And sometimes we actually do have to address the physical body. And if you are a practitioner, stay till the end, because I'm going to kind of talk to practitioners about this a little bit more at the end of today's show. So what we're not trying to do is override the physical body. What we are trying to do is pay equal amount of attention and respect to the other bodies— mental, emotional, and energetic. So I want to use some real-world case studies to kind of explain and explore who's a great fit for maybe one-on-one functional medicine work, just addressing the physical body, versus who really could use more of a Manifestor Health approach. Okay, so I had one client who came to me with a lot of autoimmune issues, nothing diagnosed, but had a lot of swelling, had inflammation, had a positive ANA. She had big blood sugar swings, highs and lows, a lot of fatigue, low energy, constant bloating, and through working with me, through functional lab testing, we discovered that she had a pretty severe gluten sensitivity, a lot of stress, she was skipping meals and snacking rather than eating meals, and she had a positive SIBO breath test.
So through addressing these things, pulling gluten out of the diet, getting her to create some boundaries in her life, she worked with a family business, create some boundaries in her life, in her work, so she was working less, she had more downtime, stopped skipping meals, and really eat 3 square meals a day. And then we put her on a SIBO protocol to address the bacterial overgrowth. Through that, she felt all the way better. No constipation, no bloating, her belly totally deflated. She actually lost 15 pounds. She had no blood sugar issues. She was sleeping better. She was getting out of bed easier.
She had pain reduction. She wasn't waking up tired. She didn't have that 3:00 slump. Wow. Uh, she, before working with me, her doctors had recommended that she go on depression and ADHD medication because she was so scattershot and just her mood was so low. All of that improved as well, and it was really through addressing the physical body. So she was able to improve her mood through working at the level of the physical body. So, you know, that was kind of it.
She kind of rode off into the sunset feeling so much better. Obviously, we did work a little bit on the life stress piece, but overall, we addressed her sleep, we addressed her habits, we addressed her food, and she was good. Now, let's look at another case that came in that had some similar stuff. So this is somebody who had SIBO for several years. She had been treated through conventional approach, also through functional medicine approach. She had been on herbal antibiotics. She had been on prescription antibiotics, pharmaceutical antibiotics. She had been on several rounds, worked with several practitioners.
Things would go away and then it would come right back. She was also hypothyroid. She was on thyroid meds. She had worked with multiple endocrinologists and functional medicine practitioners. She ate really well. She moved her body. She took care of herself. She exercised.
She did everything correctly. She listened to all the podcasts. She followed all the Instagram accounts. She was doing everything right, and she had a ton of knowledge about health and healthy living. She was on a ton of supplements and really not seeing a ton of improvements, or sometimes she would see a little bit of improvement and then none at all. And this was a pretty consistent pattern. Like, I'll feel a little bit better and then I'll go right back to baseline. I'll feel a little bit better and then I'll go right back to baseline.
She was always looking for the exact right root cause to figure out the exact thing that was wrong with her because she could not figure it out. She couldn't find a solution. Now, we got her feeling a little bit better physically, but like not all the way. And so she was actually a phenomenal candidate for Manifest Your Health, and she joined the beta group with pretty phenomenal results. And this is because just working on the physical body wasn't getting her where she needed to go. She was somebody who actually had to do more. She had to explore the emotional connections. She had to explore the energetic connections and what was going on with her belief system and what was happening at the subconscious level.
Another example was a mold client. She had histamine issues, skin issues, really super sensitive to just about everything. She was tired all the time, experiencing weight loss resistance, super bad migraines. Her home tested positive for mold. She got out of the house for 3 days. Her migraine stopped completely. She decided to move out of her house, went on a detoxification program for mold, and was totally fine. Symptoms went away.
She felt great. No problem. Now compare that to another client who— similar stuff: histamine issues, super sensitive, lots of food reactions, immune dysregulation, severe, severe mood issues, especially around her cycle. So we worked on food. We worked on nervous system, we worked on hormones, we worked on the immune system, making slight improvements. Her mycotoxin test came back positive. Her home tested positive for mold. She went through a full remediation of her house, of her house. She went through a full detox protocol, and she still had symptoms on the other side of it.
And beyond that, she had extreme fear of her symptoms, and so they kept persisting. And she was another really wonderful candidate for Manifest Your Health. And the reason for that is because these are situations where symptoms had become neuroplastic or hardwired into the brain and the nervous system. And we can frequently see this with recurring or chronic symptoms. And I talked a little bit about this in episode 240, The Neurobiology of Chronic Conditions. So it's similar stuff that I talked about in that episode, but essentially when symptoms are chronic, and hardwired, the solutions are no longer only physical. Okay, so if the, the symptoms are chronic and hardwired in neuroplastic, the solutions can't be found only through the physical body. Chronic symptoms almost always have a mind and a nervous system component, so it is imperative that we address them from a mind In nervous system perspective.
So that's why I said at the start of this episode, it's not always the mind, it's not always mindset, but sometimes it is. And when it is, we must address it from that perspective. Now, part of the problem with chronic pain or chronic symptoms is the significance that the brain attaches to it. So the story that we tell ourselves about what our symptoms mean Can reinforce those actual symptoms. And so this is good for if you are a practitioner who works with folks with chronic symptoms, this is really good information for you to have. Also, if you're just a person that deals with chronic pain or chronic symptoms, this is really good information for you to have. So stop and think about what do you make your symptoms mean when your symptoms pop up? What is the story, the inner narrative that you are telling yourself about what it means? So I'm going to use myself as an example, cuz it's an easy example. When I was diagnosed with systemic sclerosis, Raynaud's phenomenon can be part of that whole collection of symptoms.
And so anytime I experienced Raynaud's, and by the way, you can experience Raynaud's outside of a scleroderma diagnosis, okay? But anytime I saw my colors in my fingers shift, I would immediately tell myself a story That this is bad. This is indicative of disease progression. This means that my autoimmunity is not in remission. It's fully present. I can see it in my fingertips. There's tangible evidence. And that would really perpetuate a huge fear cycle of, oh my God, I haven't figured this thing out. I don't have this under control.
I'm doing everything I know how to do. It's still not enough. And that would reinforce— that stress cycle would reinforce the actual symptoms. Yeah. So I would continue to feel worse and I would continue to see concrete evidence of the symptoms and of the story that I was telling myself. Now, present time, 2023, I still will get Raynaud's attacks. Like you'll still see my fingertips turn white if I, if I shift temperatures too quickly. That still happens, but I don't have the storyline attached to it anymore.
I'm just like, oh, interesting. Okay. I must have switched temperatures. Cool. And then I move on with my day. So it doesn't reinforce any story. It doesn't reinforce any fear. It doesn't reinforce any stress.
And so it doesn't reinforce any symptoms. And so the story we tell ourselves about our symptoms and what they mean can actually reinforce the symptoms. Once symptom pathways have been embedded or hardwired in, they are actually worsened by negative thoughts that's associated with the symptoms. And this is— this isn't like woo-woo stuff. This is real. This is all based on pain science, chronic pain science. Okay. So we create stories about what our symptoms mean, and those become memorized circuits.
In talking about our symptoms reinforces the pathways. In thinking about our systems reinforces the pathways. So really pay attention and watch yourself. How much are you talking about what's going on? How much are you in, let's say, Facebook online support groups where everybody is just symptom trancing, talking about their symptoms all of the time. Those support groups can be phenomenal for support and camaraderie and to help you understand more about your condition, but they can also reinforce an identity of, I am a sick person. So if these support groups lock you into an identity that don't match where you want to go, it can actually inhibit your possibility.
So I've long made fun of the gummies as supplements trend. It's kind of like adults taking candy and calling it health until I realized that it's the only way my husband will actually consistently take supplements every day. He takes Organifi's Creatine Cherry chews and Organifi's Shilajit gummies, which is super mineral rich with fulvic acid and humic acids. But my personal favorite is, and I do take them every day, is the Happy Drops. They're yummy little lemon gummies that are made with ginger. Go to Cola and Passion Flower, all of which are shown to have positive effects on mood and emotional well being. Plus it has saffron, which is shown to help your brain modulate its levels of serotonin. And I do notice a difference in my mood when I am taking these gummies every day, even if they do taste like candy. So if you're excited to try Happy Drops or you're just sick of taking your supplements in pill form and you want to get in on the gummy action, head to or organifi.com/funk that's O R G-A-N-I-F-I.com forward slash FUNK and you can save 20% off your order with that code FUNK.
You've heard me talk about one skin before, and whether you're someone who tries every new skincare product that hits the market, or you've been using the same one or two things for years, at some point, most of us realize our skin just isn't keeping up the way it used to. That's what one skin changed for me. It didn't just make my existing routine better, it actually works differently than anything I've tried. Adding the daily moisturizer to my skin routine a year ago has made such a big difference that people even comment on how my skin has changed. As we age, things change. I don't have to tell you that. But one of those things is that skin cells stop functioning the way they used to. And that's actually what drives those visible signs of aging that we see on our skin. Fine lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness, and even dullness. OneSkin's OS1 Peptide was specifically designed to address those things. Born from over a decade of longevity research, OneSkin's OS1 Peptide is proven to target the visible signs of aging, helping you unlock your healthiest skin now and as you age. So it's important to be really, be really mindful of how much attention you are placing on your symptoms. And we're not trying to bypass the symptoms. We're not trying to say that they don't matter. In fact, in Manifest Your Health, we go right into the symptom and we are trying to unearth what the body is trying to communicate through those symptoms.
We are absolutely not ignoring them. We are absolutely not bypassing them. We're just taking a different approach. Right. Because the more we continue to tell ourselves a stressful or fearful story about our symptoms, we actually create a lower threshold to experience more of those symptoms, more of that pain, even in the absence of inflammation or the absence of tissue destruction or the absence of disease progression. So part of what we do in Manifest Your Health is be open to seeing things a new way, be open to a new perspective, and disrupt The story. Those pattern interrupts are so important from a brain perspective. I'm gonna tell you about why in a moment, but we have to, in order to change the story, we have to present another potential story.
And so the potential story that I like to present to you is that symptoms can be messages from the body, from the subconscious mind, or even from the higher self. As Candace Pert said, the body is the subconscious mind. So our subconscious mind holds on to all experiences, all experiences in your life. And one of the things that it can do is present these things to you later on in life for healing, for resolution, when you are in a resourced enough state. So I'm sure you've heard it said before, the body keeps the score. Our body is a storage space for any and all experiences that we've had. The body is the landscape in which your thoughts, your emotions, and your experiences play out. The patterns of the mind become the patterns of the body.
So if the body is locked into a pattern, a chronic symptom, chronic pain, chronic health condition, we might actually need to swim upstream to the mind and say, what's going on here? What is being presented for resolution? So this is a completely different approach and a new way to look at your symptoms. I'm going to use an example from somebody in Manifest Your Health. This participant started to experience pain and symptoms in a very specific region of her body, and her brain immediately went to, well, maybe it's leaky gut. That's where her mind took her right away. That's probably leaky gut. But through the Manifest Your Health process, where we look at the symptom root causes from more of a mental, emotional, and You know, even metaphysical standpoint, she did a neuroenergetic recoding session, she did breathwork to move through the emotions and certain transformation, transformation techniques, she realized that the pain was actually surfacing to show her some specific situation and family patterns from childhood that were impacting her ability to take forward steps in her present day life. So because of what she learned, and the beliefs that she adopted about herself, she had so much fear about taking the next steps in her career. So she was feeling really stuck with where she was at.
So this pain presented itself to be like, hey, something needs to be looked at here. Something needs to be resolved here. Like, let's go, LFG. And I chuckle because like, wouldn't it be so much easier to do another leaky gut protocol than to, I don't know, say, deal with the anger that you have toward your parents or the shame that you feel about yourself or fear you have about using your voice. And that's why the joke is functional lab tests and supplements are easy, right? Finding your way, resolving your trauma, facing them head on, finding your purpose, changing your beliefs, that's the hard work. That's the hard work. So when it comes to symptoms, I, I was talking about the story that you tell yourself about the symptoms, right? We really have 2 paths. So the first path is it means something scary.
This path has the potential to actually reinforce those exact same symptoms. The other path, however, is to be curious about what your body is trying to communicate with you through those symptoms. So you have an opportunity. It's an invitation in any given time, any given moment that you're experiencing symptoms. And hey, guess what? It's okay if sometimes you want to take the first, first path. You're like, F all this noise. I'm scared. And that's fair.
And that's totally fine. The point of Manifest Your Health is to get you into a resourced enough state that you are ready, willing, and able to choose that That second path more often than not. And part of the way we do this, part of this process, really part of any change, is putting yourself in a new environment to do so. So whether or not you're planning to join August's Manifest Your Health, or you're just like, I'm not gonna do that, but I do want to learn how to change, listen up. This is important. New experiences create new feelings and emotions, which create new thoughts. And like Bruce Lipton says, if you want to come back to the supreme power over our biology, it's thought. So I did intentionally create Manifest Your Health as a pattern interrupt.
It is set up to optimize brain change. You are intentionally putting yourself in an environment to change because we know that change and transformation happens faster when we get out of our typical environment, whether that's a place or a schedule or something else. And this has so much to do with the DMN. This is the default mode network, and these are kind of a collection of different regions of the brain. And these different regions light up when you are being self-reflective. So when there's less attention on the outside world and more attention on the inside world, when you're more aware of your own emotions. And this is why neuroscientists have nicknamed it the me network. It's essentially the neural biological basis of who you are.
It's your personality, it's your identity, it's the story you tell yourself about yourself. And in order to create change, because we know that everything we're doing, every value we have, every belief we have, every behavior we— an action step we take, every habit, all of those things that create the results that we see in our physical reality All of that is based on your identity. It's like James Clear says, we don't rise to the levels of our goals, we sink to the levels of our systems. These are our systems. Our systems are based on our identity. So if we wanna make any change in our life, changes to our beliefs, changes to our habits, changes to the results that we're seeing, changes to our physical body, we do need to disrupt our identity. Yeah. We have to put ourselves in a position to see ourselves in a new way.
We have to disrupt that default mode network. It's called default mode for a reason. It is your default mode. So if you wanna change, you have to put yourself in a position to change, because once we disrupt that default mode, it not only shifts the way you think, but it also shifts the way your body functions. On a chemical, even molecular level. And so in order to do this, in order to disrupt our default mode, we have to break from our usual routine in some way. So this way we see ourself in a different context. One of the ways that I did this, this was a couple of years ago, I, I was just burnt out, like beyond, beyond, beyond.
And I took myself on a mini retreat to the Cliff House in Maine. I even did a podcast episode on it, and I think it was, I stayed for 2 nights, maybe 3 nights, not a terribly long time, but it was enough of a pattern interrupt. I got out of my routine. I wake up every morning on the same side of the bed. I get up, I brush my teeth, I drink water, I have coffee, I sit down. Everything is so mechanical, and I had to disrupt that to change. And then I said, okay, what am I going to do? I just disrupted the pattern. Now what am I going to do to keep on keeping on? And so for the next 30 days, I committed to waking up every morning and doing something different.
So for me, that looked like doing like 15-20 minutes of meditation. So we do have to put ourselves intentionally in a new environment. It doesn't mean you need to like pack up your bags and go on a 2-month retreat to Bali, although that would work too, but you just have to do something different. And so like I said, by design with Manifest Your Health, it is 6 weeks. So every Tuesday from 1 to 3 PM Eastern Standard Time, we are meeting together as a group. That in and of itself is a pattern interrupt that requires you to do something slightly different with your schedule in order to make it to the live classes. I know the question is, is will they be recorded? Yes, of course they will. You don't have to make it live.
Plenty of people in the beta group did not make it live and they still got a lot of benefit out of the program. But if you can, I would suggest that you do. If you can't, I would suggest that you create some type of schedule that allows you to land in a different space throughout the 6 weeks of the program. So maybe for you, it's like every Wednesday morning I wake up at 6:00 AM and I do the— I watch the 2-hour class and I create 20 minutes in my day-to-day life to implement the homework. The homework is a 20-minute practice. It changes every week, some type of transformation It's all really good stuff. You'll feel so good, but you wanna create the time and the space to actually do that. You need to create a deliberate container that is supportive.
You have to choose to do a deliberate practice in a simplified space. This allows you to concentrate your efforts and achieve a higher level of pro— proficiency. This is pretty evidence-based stuff. So you're intentionally in purposefully stepping outside of your comfort zone. This allows you to create new experiences. This allows you to create new opportunities for healing. Hey guys, if you've been following me for a while, or you've been listening to the podcast, you probably already know that when it comes to your health, there's more to the story than what you've been told. A lot of you guys are really You've tried things, you've run labs, you've worked with practitioners, and you're still sitting here like, why doesn't my body feel better yet? That's actually the exact person we work with inside our one-to-one care.
You are not doing anything wrong. It's just that no one has really put the full picture together for you. Inside our one-to-one functional care method, we look at everything together— your gut, your hormones, your nutrient status, your nervous system, your history. We don't see them as separate issues, but as one connected story, because it is. And then we help you actually work through that with real support, ongoing guidance, adjustments, and helping you understand what your body is doing and why. Our goal isn't to just help you feel a little bit better for a few months. It's to actually create something that lasts. We don't go for 90% better.
We keep it 100%. So if you're dealing with chronic symptoms, gut issues, hormone imbalances, autoimmunity, and you feel like you've tried everything, I really do get it. Yeah. I get it. And at the same time, I'll say this, when we work with someone like you, it's very rare that we don't find what's missing because that's what we do. We're a team of highly skilled practitioners working on complex cases every single day. You are not doing this alone. You have ongoing support, messaging access to your practitioner, monthly appointments where we're looking at your progress, your labs, what's working and what's not, and actually adjusting those things in real time so we can find what works for your body.
Yeah. You can apply to work with us through the link in the show notes, and our team will take a look and guide you from there.
If you are a woman anywhere near the vicinity of 40, you've no doubt heard about creatine. We need it for our muscles and our brains. Everybody's talking about it, but are you actually taking it? And if you're taking it, are you taking it in the form that actually works well in your body? Two specific things help with this. Electrolytes help with absorption, and magnesium supports activation. That's why I love Qualia Creatine+. It combines two clinically studied forms of creatine. Creatine monohydrate and a magnesium chelate that helps your body turn it into the form that gives your cell energy, all with electrolytes so you can actually absorb it. I know I've talked about creatine before. This is the one I use. I mix it into my water every day when I work out. It stirs easily and has no taste so you can mix it into whatever beverage you're drinking. We are way past the dark ages of creatine being just for gym bros. So because I keep referencing the brain, quite a few people have asked, is this Manifest Your Health? Is the same as brain rewiring. And since Manifest Your Health is an altogether new framework, I think it can be considered a methodology in and of itself. Brain rewiring, neural reprogramming is an aspect of the program, but not the program in its entirety. We do create a system that is designed to optimize brain change and rewrite neural pathways. And rewrite old subconscious programs to update them to reflect your— the identity you're looking to create. But sometimes I believe that brain wiring just doesn't go deep enough.
That was my own experience. I did all of the brain rewiring programs on the market, and I still needed more. And so this is the and more part. So the process also includes Getting you to understand how the subconscious mind works, how it's programmed. Because it's all fine and good to be like, "Oh, I need to change my beliefs," but it's also really helpful to understand what informed those beliefs to begin with. I think if we don't do that, it's like trying to paint over a moldy wall. It's like, um, it looks a little better, but the mold's still there. You know, in order to rewrite programs, we do have to get into the subconscious, which does require us to shift brainwave states.
And this ability can be blocked in some people. A few weeks ago, I talked about intuition, and we— I talked pretty extensively about why so many of us don't really know how to listen to our intuition, or we fear our intuition, why we don't trust ourselves. We learn through many different points of our life, and, you know, this is reinforced through healthcare as well. To divorce ourselves from ourselves. We learn to not trust me with me. I don't trust myself with myself. And so if I don't trust myself with myself, the subconscious is part of me.
And so we have to bring that trust back online, and that can be a process. And so that process is baked into Manifest Your Health, where we keep coming back to ourselves time and time and time again. We learn to sit with ourselves. Even if there's no answers, we still come back. And that process is super fast in some people and super clunky in some others, and it's all good. Okay. We also leverage self-directed positive neuroplasticity, quantum biology science. Um, I teach you how to heal using your own heart resonance.
This is one of my most favorite things. It is so important to understand. We talk about the brain, the brain, the brain, the mind, the brain, The mind, the brain, mindset, mindset is everything. But the brain and the heart work in tandem. So that means we have to give as much focus, power, and appreciation to the heart as we give to the mind and the brain. And that is what I think that some of these potentially sometimes brain rewiring misses, that we're just focusing on the brain, and we have to open up to the heart. This is how we shift our entire energy field and our ability to heal our own body. We get pretty deep into energy medicine and intuitive energy medicine, how to call your energy back to you for healing.
Because if your energy is on a walkabout, if you're extending your energy into everybody and everything in your life, hey, guess what? You have less available for you. So we talk about that in real-world strategies for how to do that. Of course, we get into the healing power of self-compassion. There is hypnosis, there is somatic release. There's so many tools. That's one of the biggest things that I got from the feedback. The survey form is, uh, or the feedback form, the survey is that people are just walking away with an abundance of tools and knowing why they work. Because I go into, you know me, I explain to you like, here's the tool, here's what this tool does.
So they understand why they work and when they need to use them. So that's really, really important. And then one of my favorites, we understand, we get to know, and we integrate shame and shadow. And you must, I repeat, underscore, must do this if you want to heal. So I teach you how to view and address illness through the lens of the emotional, the mental, and the energy bodies as a way to unlock and access your own inner healer. And I am so excited to offer this one more time as a live program. So that means I am teaching the modules live. I'm walking you through it.
I'm right there, there with you. And it kicks off August 1st. I recommend you stop what you're doing and you go sign up for it now because we want to see you succeed. So everything we do is set up for your success. So as soon as you enroll, we give you a little dopamine hit because you get immediate access to a lot of the pre-work, some of the modules. You can tuck in kind of like choose-your-own-adventure style and really tuck into what you want to learn about. You get access to Body Intentions Breakthrough. That's a $444 offer.
You get it for free. You also, by the way, get free access to Eat to Achieve. So it's a 3-week nutrition program because we know supporting the physical body helps to support the changes at the level of the brain, the level of the mind. So I'm going to suggest to you, if you are typically— if you're like Ben-Hemen and Han, you're like, I'm going to sign up, I'm going to sign up, I'm going to sign up in August, I'll sign up like right before it begins. If you typically wait till the very last minute to sign up with something, put your brain in a position to change now and sign up right now. Go for it. Go do it. Okay.
So I told you that I would speak to practitioners. So I do want to talk to that a little bit because I've had a lot of practitioners reach out and say, can I do Manifest Your Health as a training. And this is why Manifest Your Health is not a practitioner training yet. And this is something I'm super passionate about. You have to lead yourself through this work before you can lead others. Transformation starts from within. This is a quote from John Lewis that I recently heard last weekend in my Stanford training. If there is one thing that I've learned in all my years.
It is that transformation begins within. If you want to change the world and bring about a more peaceful society, you have to start with yourself. I started studying intuitive medicine, energy medicine in 2007. There is a reason I did not create this program until 2023. It has taken time to integrate everything that I've learned Since 2007, I have amassed over a dozen certifications, not including nutrition functional medicine trainings. Many of these certifications took me over a year of studying and practicing to acquire. A lot of them required travel. I have been just so committed to this path.
I've worked one-on-one with healers and mentors to take me deeper into the work. And to teach me how to hold appropriate space for others as I let— as I lead people through this work. So it has taken me a long time to get to a point where I felt solid and ready, and I had to take my own medicine time and time and time again. There's so much medicine in each spiral, each health spiral. Yeah. And if you don't have adequate resources to receive and integrate that medicine, or the capacity to do so, then you're going to be ill-equipped to walk others through this process. This isn't something like, ooh, I'm interested in this. I'm gonna dip my toe in it and then help others.
This is like, I'm all in. And so what would it take for you to be all in on this? And to be clear, I think it is noble. And good and kind that practitioners are out here trying to find new ways to help their clients and their patients. This is good shit. You know, I've just worked with a lot of practitioners and a lot of people, and one thing I can tell you is there is a huge propensity for people to resist the work themselves, to want to skip steps in order to help other people. And I know it comes from a good place, like 9.5 times out of 10, it comes from a good And it's a natural human tendency to want to avoid pain, to want to avoid our own pain. But if you are unable to turn toward your own pain and sit with it and be with it and learn from it and receive the medicine from it, how can you teach someone else to do that? The Manifestor Health System teaches people how to be their own healers. So in order to help someone with this, you kind of have to let go of being the savior, being the fixer, being the doer.
And I say this with so much compassion and understanding as somebody who definitely had a lot of saviorship, um, that I had to work through before I offered a program like this. Because saviorship is huge. It's huge in healing spaces. And for every single savior, there is an energetic match. Yeah. For someone or people who are looking to be saved. And you can do that for sure, you can be the savior, but that's not how you lead someone to their own healing. And that's not what the Manifest Your Health process is about.
So Manifest Your Health is a 6-week process, and it is for personal health use. It is not a practitioner training because I don't believe that you can build capacity to learn to walk others through this process in 6 weeks. And I, I say that if you think you can, you probably don't understand this work yet. But the good news, if you are a practitioner, a lot of this is baked into the fabric of FNA, the Funk’tional Nutrition Academy, and how I teach. And, you know, honestly, there's a lot of external business growth that happens with that within FNA, but there's also a lot of inner growth and expansion that happens as well because of this. FNA is 14 months long, you know, expansion and inner growth and inner work takes time. And so just, I, my suggestion to practitioners who are interested in this and eager to learn more is give yourself time. Notice if there is resistance to doing this work for yourself.
Pay attention to that resistance. Ask what that resistance is all about. Just dive in all the way. Take this medicine yourself before you try to bring it to other people. And so hopefully I didn't just piss everybody off by saying that, but that is, you know, that's my perspective of this. There's a reason why it has taken me 15 years to craft this 6-week offering. It's, it's because it's a doozy. It's a big one.
Yeah. big one. And with that said, I invite anybody to join who wants to join for their own personal growth and development and healing. And I look forward to seeing you on August 1st.
